The brand new Ferrari 2024 Roma Spider is a stunning successor to the Portofino M. For this new model, Ferrari has removed the roof from its beautiful Roma coupe, replacing it with a fabric top for the first time since 1969. Here’s everything you need to know about the new car.
The Exterior
As the first front-engine soft-top from the brand, the new convertible version of Ferrari’s elegant V-8-powered coupe features a retractable soft top. It’s constructed with special multi-layer fabric weaves and can be raised at up to 37 mph speed in just 13.5 seconds. Keeping the exterior largely unchanged, the new Ferrari Roma Spider retains smooth curves and a long hood. Ferrari also has recalibrated and redesigned the rear spoiler for roofless driving. Claiming that the new model is only 185 pounds heavier than the original coupe, the brand also has reinforced the chassis and strengthened the car’s bodywork.
The Interior
Retaining the same refined look of the original Roma coupe, the new Ferrari Roma Spider’s cabin features an 8.4-inch sized vertical screen. The metal gear selector plate is surrounded by faux-suede and luscious leather. Ferrari has redesigned the steering wheel buttons for easier driving use. The company also has paid attention to reducing turbulence and wind noise with the top down, by adding a 5-mm aerodynamic element to the top of the windshield and also an additional wind deflector that pops up with the push of a button.
The Engine
The heart of the original coupe remains unchanged in this new Roma convertible version, still producing a massive 612-hp and 561-pound-feet of torque from its turbocharged 3.9-liter V-8 engine. Ferrari has touted a few minor changes to the gearbox, improving fuel efficiency. The Roma spider also features the latest Slide Slip Control system that manages stability control and traction, allowing for predictable drifts.
