For many years, racing has been overflowing with testosterone. As a stereotypically male sport, every division within the racing world has bred some of the most impressive men within the celebrity world — and they certainly know how to drive. However, it seems as though Extreme E is now trying to mix things up.

Offering a New Alternative
Of course, this might not come as a surprise to many people. Since the idea of Extreme E was conceived back in 2018, the sport has come under fire for being a little too, well…extreme. Many critics have noted that electric vehicles don’t have a place within the world of racing — especially off-road racing — and this may be the next nail in the coffin. That doesn’t mean that others aren’t pretty excited to see what these women have got to show for themselves, though.
The Planned Events
Although no Extreme E competition has taken place yet, the first championship is due to take place in 2021, and it seems as though they are going by the rules that anything goes. Numerous countries have announced their intention to compete in Extreme E, and there’s now the added bonus of sending both male and female racers along for the ride. This way, everyone will get the chance to get behind the wheel, and it will be a simple case of whoever is the quickest will win.

A Real First
The founder and CEO of Extreme E, Alejandro Agag, has noted that this new direction is “a first in motor racing” and that “everyone will race together.” It’s certainly not something that we’ve seen before, and we are more than happy that women now have their chance to compete against the men. Yet, we do have a feeling that it will be the men trying to compete against the women…
Will you be watching Extreme E when it starts in 2021?
