Azerbaijan Grand Prix

On Sunday, April 28, drivers will be taking on the Baku City Circuit for the 2019 Grand Prix. It is one of the most unpredictable circuits on the F1 calendar despite only joining the roster in 2017. The first year saw Daniel Ricciardo wowed the crowds during the first Azerbaijan Grand Prix after having to pit in lap 6 to clean debris off his brakes. He rejoined near the back in 17th place but found himself winning the race after various incidents and red flags. Last year, Vettel took pole position, but Lewis Hamilton finished in first, with a surprising podium for Force India’s Sergio Perez in third.

Ferrari Changes

The 2019 Grand Prix so far has seen Mercedes absolutely dominate with Valtteri Bottas winning one and Lewis Hamilton with two wins under his belt. It was clear that Ferrari needed to make some significant changes to be able to compete… Ferrari boss, Mattia Binotto has explained that the Azerbaijan Grand Prix is an “important” moment for the team. He went on to explain that they have prepared and adapted the car well, using all of the data they have gleaned from the first three races.

What Can We Expect?

There’s no denying that we can expect something interesting from the Baku City Circuit race at the weekend, with some major shakeups likely to happen both in qualifying and the race itself. Whether Ferrari’s new aerodynamic upgrades and refining of the car can compete against Mercedes is yet to be seen. However, it would be interesting to see one of the other teams going up against the Big Boys too. Red Bull, anyone?

Ferrari know they need to pull out all the stops for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix at the weekend. Let’s just see if they’ve got the power or if we’ll end up with someone else creeping in and taking the lead.
