Five-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton is often regarded as one of the greatest drivers in the history of Formula One. There’s no denying that he is definitely the best of this generation! With 80 wins and 143 podiums under his belt, it seems as though no one can hold back Hamilton. Will there be any contenders this year? Will anyone end his reign?

Valtteri Bottas
Lewis’ teammate, Valtteri Bottas used to drive for Williams until Mercedes catapulted him from midway table to the top. However, he has had a tough couple of years in the team and didn’t look like much of a competitor – until now. Bottas has been proving himself this season, tying on nine podiums with Hamilton so far. He’s second in the table with 184 points to Lewis’ 223.
Sebastian Vettel
Vettel is a four-time World Champion, snapping at the heels of Lewis Hamilton. He was disappointed when he couldn’t clutch the title last year, particularly as they were both on four World Championship wins at that point. Instead, Hamilton raced ahead in the “Fight For Five.” Vettel and Ferrari haven’t had the best season so far and it doesn’t look like they’re going to be in any position to compete just yet. He sits fourth in the standings so far.

Max Verstappen
Mighty Max is continuing to make waves across Formula One, and it’s very obvious he wants to topple Hamilton. With three podiums and one win so far this year, he is definitely making his presence known to the Mercedes drivers. He will definitely be one to watch and currently sits third in the standings.
Will anyone knock Hamilton off the top spot this year? It’s looking unlikely so far…But there’s a long way to go.
